I won't be bridezilla

Although I came close this weekend. Finding a venue that meets my criteria is tough. I want "simple" I want "outdoor" and I want to "seat 150". Add to that available Memorial Day weekend and you can see why I am a bit stressed. However, I need to remember that even if my first choice place is booked, there are other places. And if I don't like other places, there are other dates. And if that all fails, I can always elope! That is my father's suggestion. Save the money and elope. Of course, he'd never hear the end of it from my mother. So, I think we'll keep looking. As we've only been on the hunt for 2 weeks.

I will say that there are several places I had wanted to consider only to find out they don't do weddings. Which made sense after I thought about it. After all, a wedding is probably not the easiest event to deal with. Too bad though.

Once I get my venue set, the rest will be easier. Right?

water anyone?

So Antioch suffered water service issues most of the day today. I had water at 715 when I got up, however by 745 when I went to take a shower, it was no more . . . and I had attended a bonfire last night so the woodsmoke perfume in my hair was just lovely.

It was a beautiful day though so after I went to the gym, I came home and picked up the four legged fur baby. We did a three and a half mile walk and she got to go mole hunting. One of her favorite sports. If I'd only had my camera with me to take a shot of her half buried in the dirt and leaves trying to catch "whatever" was running around underground. She made a lovely picture. Oh well, those of you who know her can imagine it I'm sure.

I did call the water company and apparently a water main had broken. Luckily by about 5 pm, there was enough water pressure in the pipes that I was able to wash my hair. And my fingers are crossed that by tomorrow I will get to take a real shower. Otherwise, that knock on your door? is me desperate.

Can't say no

So, not only did I end up on my board of directors for the homeowner's association again this year, I also am now the Vice-President and the Webmaster. We did have another Vice, however when the President made the decision to move to Texas . . . they wanted me as President again. I've already done that once. So I negotiated! Vice become President, and I will be Vice, and the other five will get lots of tasks delegated to them!

Becoming Webmaster, well, that was funny. I volunteered. Actually it was part of my mad negotiating plan. I said that I would do the website if I was not President. However I could not be President and do the website and plan a wedding. And the wedding was non-negotiable. Thus they could either have me as Webmaster or President. They picked Webmaster. What does that say about me???

Anyway, I had my first experience this evening working on the website. I figured out how to do some of what I wanted, however I felt that it was definitely a clunky tool. Not nearly as friendly as Typepad. Oh well. I don't have another option for the time being. Just think of all I will learn though.

And I said yes . . .

For Columbus Day weekend we went to KY, his sister's farm, for the annual Octoberfest/Family Gathering. Saturday was the big meal day. We cooked up a lamb, several side dishes, and had an Iron Chef - main ingredient Pumpkin competition. There were probably close to 40 people (both friends and family) and 7 or 8 dogs running around, including Lindy.

 

That evening, after frantically running around the kitchen finalizing our entries, Aaron needed to get outside to cool off. Grabbing my glass of Pouilly-Fuisse we walked up the hill a little. Chattering away as I often do, telling him how much fun I'm having, how I've always wanted to have that sort of family/friends lifestyle, Aaron turns to me and asks me if I truly mean it. Am I not overwhelmed? Is it not too much? Can I really handle the craziness that is his family? My answer is of course I can handle it, that I love his family. Expecting a great big hug and kiss, instead I get a boyfriend pulling a ring out of his pocket and asking me to marry him. He has tears, I have tears, all I can think is "don't drop the wineglass" . . . and then I think I say yes, I definitely take the ring. He takes the wine from me, I put the ring on my finger, then I get practical. Where's my on one knee??? So he drops to one knee and asks again. Of course I said yes. We sat up on the hill for a little while, calming down and drying eyes. Then we headed back into the house where I showed off my ring. Only to find out he'd already shown them. Oh well, I can show it off here . . .

Pumpkin Patch 2008

A few weeks ago we went to the pumpkin patch to celebrate the season. It was our first time to do this together and the place we chose had lots of activities for all ages. We wandered the farm, fed the animals, chose pumpkins, and snacked on tasty yummy food. Here are some of the pictures from that day:

 

   

I have returned

So, after the third person asked why I didn't blog any more on a recent trip to California . . . I decided it might be worth starting up again. I make no promises as to being consistent or thought-provoking, however I might find something fun to talk about once in a while. A boring post tonight, however, I paid my dues and decided I had to post something. Thus, this. Sorry. I'll try to have something better/more interesting in a day or so!
