Boyds Orchard Fun

I'm not catching up as fast as I'd hoped. When "they" tell you that kids take up a lot of time, "they" are right! Right now he is napping and I have the choice of laundry or shower. I opted for laundry (and blogging) as I'm not heading out until later today and should be able to shower after Daddy gets home and can watch the kid. We went to Versailles, KY for the family reunion a couple of weeks ago and while there we went to Boyd's Orchard for some good apple cider, donuts, and photos.

We had our picture taken in the ginormous chair. That was an effort to get in and out of . . .

When we went to have lunch, Tadpole stole my apple cider slushie. I have no clue how he did NOT get brain freeze but he just kept sucking on that straw.

Third picture in a row with me in it. I think this is a new record! Not only did Tadpole "drive" the train, we also got pics of him in the peach, apple, and pumpkin. However I think my favorite might be their giant "corn on the cob"

Besides, we had to have at least one photo with Daddy!

I was very sad that his cousins K and N did not make it to the reunion b/c Tadpole was the only "little" there that weekend. It would have been a lot of fun to have photos of all three of them together. Hopefully they will make it next year!

Week 34 LATE

as for week 35, Mommy has to narrow down the choices. We went to a family reunion and the camera was constantly clicking!

Eight months old - so big

Just a few days late, and actually the measurements were taken one day early since we went out of town. Not that you can tell by the picture, but as of October 11th Tadpole was 28 inches tall and weighed 21 pounds!

Walden Farm 2013 - aka Tadpole's First Trip

Our favorite pumpkin patch to visit every year is more than just a pumpkin patch. They are a family owned farm in Smyrna, TN which has won multiple awards for innovative marketing. We just know how much fun we have going there to eat, feed the animals, take some great photos, and enjoy watching the families. We usually come home with some local honey as well as a pumpkin or two. And now that we have a kid (yay!) we'll get to experience more of the fun and games at Walden Farm. We've blogged about this before at THB and even on this blog back in 2008.

This year we went early (this past Sunday) and took Grandpa. After he found out about the funnel cakes, he thought we might have to go again once Nana comes to town. Twist my arm why don't you? Anyway, Tadpole had a blast! He watched us feed the sheep

had a blast at the chickens

and thought the goats were pretty neat as well.

He decided on a pumpkin rather quickly

and even suffered through a few photo shoots

while showing off how tall he is (why yes, we will make this a tradition)!

He also sat on a pile of corn for us, so patient.

Are his pirates socks not the cutest thing ever? They match his diapers!

Weeks 31 through 33

Time keeps flying by and sitting down at the computer is harder than ever. Partly because Tadpole is no longer sleeping through the night (thanks teeth!) so I tend to fall into bed shortly after he does since I know I'll be awake in the middle of the night and I don't get to take as many naps as he does. However he is so stinkin' cute at this age that I forgive him. Some favorite shots from week 31 include

Beep Beep at a friend's house and attempting to hold my bottle for the 237th time.

Those would be in addition to the two months height photo.

Some favorite shots from week 32 (in addition to our football cookie photo) would be

getting my photo taken with R2D2 at the Nashville Mini Maker Faire and eating my first paletas.

Tadpole's first paleta was a watermelon one.

Then from this most recent week we love figuring out the baby gate

and Goodnight Moon with Grandpa

and my new pirate diapers from The Honest Company.

Then there was also the trip to the pumpkin patch on Sunday which deserves a whole post of its own . . . I hope to get that up tomorrow night!

 

Seven Months - 28 inches tall

Our monthly photos are becoming a bit of a challenge with the Tadpole graduating to Frog status. He sure is a wiggle worm to mix some metaphors . . . luckily now that he can "stand" we can take pictures a different way. Trying the old way we had this

at least until we can build something more permanent.

a quick look at week 30

So we suffered through our first illness this weekend. And when I say illness, I'm talking runny nose with a slight fever. Nothing earth shattering. However, ick! Runny noses are just a bit disgusting and you would have thought we were torturing him every time we wiped his nose. Either that or stealing something precious of which he had worked hard to create. Anyway, by the end of yesterday, his poor nose looked like

Prior to that though, one new adventure Tadpole had involved his new Mickey Mouse bathing suit . . .

I think we might just have a water baby on our hands :-)

Please ignore the sound of my voice in the below. I really don't like talking baby talk to my son. Sometimes it just happens though.

  

Week Twenty Nine (back on track?)

So here I am trying to post three favorite photos from last week in a more timely fashion. I'm tired, the boy is teething, and his Daddy is cleaning up the kitchen because I'm the luckiest girl alive . . .

What do you do when you have an hour long car ride and your boy is overtired? Distract him with a toy, aka Mommy's Pandora bracelet. Whatever it takes . . . whatever!

Sneaky boy here found his cousin's water bottle and promptly put it to use.

I'm off to help clean up the kitchen. Crossing our fingers Tadpole sleeps through the night tonight and/or that pesky tooth finally makes it through so he can get some relief!

a three week delay

So I took a few weeks off . . . my parents were out here visiting and we were too busy having fun to spend much time on the computer. Here are some favorite shots without much commentary from that time.

Tomorrow I plan to post the pictures of the finished nursery. While I didn't make my "by his six month birthday" deadline, I did get it done before Labor Day weekend was complete! Now, back to his baby books before I get any further behind . . .

week twenty five

Week twenty five had us attempting to get photos of some of the cuteness. Why is it that as soon as the camera comes out, he stops being cute? Or the light is wrong . . . or we have blurry . . . or is it we just aren't that good at this? Anyway, enough of the whine, give me some cheese!

We call this "itsy bitsy" - when he gets sleepy and is eating that last bottle of the night he likes to put his hands up and play with his fingers. Of course, if we turn up the lights to get a good shot, he stops what he is doing to watch us. So, this is probably the best I'm going to get. Everyone chant along now:

    Itsy Bitsy Spider crawled up the water spout.

    Down came the rain to wash the spider out.

    Out came the sun and dried up all the rain.

    So the Itsy Bitsy Spider climbed up the spout again.

My babysitter suggested that we "practice" with a straw while Tadpole's "sucker" is still sucking. Apparently it is much easier to teach how to use a straw when they are still used to sucking on the bottle. We seem to make a mess, but he sure does have fun.

This has been lots of fun. He is very interested in both the cat and the dog these days, they make him giggle everytime he sees them. We have been rewarding the fur babies with treats when they let him pet him and this night Lindy got LOTS of treats while we got LOTS of giggles.

And that is a quick look at our twenty-fifth week. I can't believe he turns six months on Monday!
