While the flavor is great and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal and leftovers, I will say there was not enough liquid in the original recipe for us. Granted, we had to use our smart slow cooker and after it cooked for five hours it turned to warm until we got home from work. But even with that, I still think I would have needed to add more liquid. Since we had made stock the night before and I was putting it in freezer bags for future use, I threw in an additional 3 cups of stock and that made the stew . . . stew. As for the bites of sausage that got a little crunchy around the edges, well they were still tasty.
