I recently acquired a copy of Food in Jars: Preserving in Small Batches Year-Round (9780762441433) by Marisa McClellan. We had first discovered McClellan from her popular food blog Food in Jars. After canning fruit with her mom as a child, she came back to canning in 2006 and has shared her knowledge and experiences with many people. This beautiful cookbook is not only a treat to read; it will provide reassurance to many who are just looking to dip their toes in the water. Organized by type of product and ranging from fruit to pickles and all the way to homemade granolas, there is a huge variety to please any palate. Making these "small batch" recipes aids the user who only has a few pints to preserve and limited time or space in which to work. The photos are absolutely inspiring as well as gorgeous. Her recipe for Pickled Green Tomatoes is a favorite of mine, and we look forward to trying many more of her recipes.
Standard disclaimer: I get to see advance copies of books through my job, however this review was unsolicited and unpaid for . . . opinions are completely my own.
